How do we find out when and where the free workshops, for programs such as After Effects, Shake, and so on will be held? also, how long in advance do we need to sign up for them, or do we need to sign up?

If you will go inside the computer lab on the third floor, there is message board inside, with all the workshops info you are looking for.

yeah, the workshops info is posted in the lab. Some of them are pretty interesting, like Shake, Maya and so on. It starts on 19th this month and goes on till Nov i think. But i wonder if it will be like a follow-up class that we gotta attend each week or is it just a 1 session workshop??? And it said that they were walk-in workshops, so i guess we dont have to register beforehand. Hmm, but if thats not true, plz lemme know. -prasanna

most workshops like Shake, maya are there to help you solve your problems. You don't need to sign up or register.

One quickie.... are the workshop topics limited to students taking the corresponding classes?? thats what the workshop post said. Does that mean we cant attend a workshop that is not within the field of our classes? Could we still attend like a figure drawing or illustration workshop??? Anyone know anything about that? -pras

From what I 'va understand. these workshops are on an open place basis. This means that if you come to a workshop and it is full, you'll have that someone will exit earlier or even maybe to the next week.

Thanks for all the info everyone...it would be great to take some of these workshops. I am curious to know if we are able to take workshops from other departments - like drawing and photography - to work on other skills. Does anyone know about this?

As long as you know those workshop's schedule and location. You can just show yourself in. There will be a sheet to sign your name (just for the school to keep a record and see if this workshop is needed) I haven't seen any workshop that is too full to join in. Figure drawing, Bill's first few workshop may be pretty crowed, after that, the space frees up. Maya workshop should be able to help mel script. It is not class, so no one will teach new knowledge, the teacher is ony to help you to solve your problem.
