Doug Mac Millan, originally of Omnibus, worked for Side Effects Software and finally Industrial Light and Magic.
Doug is one of the pioneers in the field of computer graphics visual effects, starting at the New York Institute of Technology, then working for a time with seminal Omnibus Inc., the Bell Laboratory of the Computer Industry. At Omnibus, Doug created one of the first particle system packages, later marketed under the name, 'Prisms,' by SideEffects Software.
Doug worked for nearly ten years at ILM, in both the feature and commericial division. After spending a brief six months teaching at AAU, Doug was called back to work on a feature film, 'Darwin Awards.'
As a direct result of work on that film, Doug is now one of the principles of the boutique effects shop, Element/FX, located in Marin County.
Doug is a member of the VES Society.
