Four week project involving on-set production, 3D lighting techniques and simple A over B compositing.
UFO Video
Situation:
You're an amateur photographer taking some home footage of a family gathering, and in the background you capture a UFO. You don't notice it a first, but then, upon recognition, you get pretty excited with your discovery. But, like all sightings, as soon as you think you've about to get it in center frame, it's gone!
Groups of two, please.
Please create a turnover sheet as discussed in the October 8th lecture for this project.
This project has been extended one week.

I have an idea about the mid-term project. The premise is that a couple of tourists shooting a SF landmark with camcorder and accidently catch a ufo in their shot. What do you think, Vince? perfect. remember, this assignment is more about creating visual continuity and context then it is about tech. if you can't get your hand on a dv cam, don't sweat it. using my canon digital powershot s30, i recorded a thirty second avi that i'll bring into maya/ae for this project. most digital still cameras will allow you to string a bunch of frames together in an .avi format. might be easier than borrowing/renting a dv cam.

i'm more interested in seeing the approach you use to sell the effect. flare? haze? animated lights? interactive lighting?
focus on your visual effects.
