Create a 30 second, sound sync commercial for the Academy of Art University.
Project parameters:
1. At least three different blue screen camera angles on your actor(s).
2. At least three different backgrounds.
3. You may lock off your camera (tripod).
Some things to consider:
Try to use medium or tight close ups for the blue screen compositions. Use solid studio lighting practices to separate your subject from the backgrounds. Use standard talking head documentary footage as a reference.
Band of Brothers, the HBO mini-series about the exploits of Easy Company (Company E) during the campaign in Europe after the Normandy Invasion, is a great place to start for general lighting composition for cutouts. (A cutout is a brief introductory interview, and in this case, interviews of the veterans who served in company E during the end of WWII.)
This exercise differs from the standard documentary layout in that you'll be placing a BG behind your talent (the actor(s)).
You'll need to post-process the BG so that it doesn't interfere visually with your actor(s). You could use a ramp to fade the BG behind the actor(s). You could de-saturate the BG. Whatever you do, make sure that you're using an extraction to place the FG over the BG in some way.
I left the lores AAU commercial I built in the student dropoff area. Check it out for additional reference.
