I just wanted to comment that I think it's a good idea to require match moving before this class.
I think CAPS and Maya 1 cover a lot in the way of what's needed for texturing--outside of perhaps depth maps and the notion that the model's shape should be aesthetically pleasing--therefore the texture class isn't necessarily needed, however nice it might be. I mean to say I have not had the texturing class and purely relied on the knowledge I learned from Maya 1 & CAPS.
I thought the book for the class suggested to me authored by Jeremy Birn "Lighting and Rendering" was very helpful to read through, dog-earing a few of the nice charts here and there, as well as the book I found "The Special Effects Handbook"by the Maya Autodesk Press, which was and will be helpful when I get the the time to experiment further.
However I sat through fifteen weeks of match moving and thirty weeks later at the end of this class I really am beginning to grasp the potentiality it's many applications. I didn't consider it in MM class but photogrammetry seems the most logical solution for situations that hand key framing successful animations would be too laborious.
This class was very informative and gave me a chance to refresh my Maya skills, as well as enhance and build upon them further.
