Dailies 11.06.08
Greenscreen:
Final. Apply the uniform color correction and grain work to all shots.
Matchlighting:
Heather:
Too much light on CG object. Use the hand in the backplate as reference for the lighting in the shot, there is a lower key to fill on the hand then the CG glass. Take your lighting cues from the fist. Take out the light reflections on the glass as well. The source light should simply be coming from frame left. Add an edge blend and use your compositing skills to integrate your CG object into your backplate. Try a 2 pixel edge blend. Also please put your weekly changes and the correction version number in your slate.
Sateesh:
Looks really good. Close to final. Work with your occlusion pass to enhance the shadows in the seams of the balloon. Try darkening your occlusion pass and multiplying it on top of the balloon. You also may need to use sub-surface scattering to add the correct luminance to the balloon. It is a little blown out on top. Your ground shadow is also a little less blue. Match the existing shadow on the ground by taking some green out with a levels or adding some blue to it. So CBB-fix shadow on balloon, ground and rim light on balloon.
Bekah:
Push in on camera more. Make you CG object bigger. Final, but a B. Render out at 4k and push in a little more.
Alex:
Needs to work on matching his shadows more. Try to roto if necessary. Also color correct your shadows and get rid of the color on the outer edges. Use a shift channels and create 3 layers of your image. One with the blue, one with the red, and the original. Then shift each layer a pixel accordingly to get rid of the shift in color in the edges of the ground shadows. Use 2 shadow passes, 1 for the ground shadow and 1 for the pots and blur your ground shadows a little more.
HP ad:
The client wants to stick with a bird rather then the butterfly look, but is interested to see the butterflies with the CMYK colors applied to the areas where the orange is on the wings. They are open to changing the design on the screen and changing the type of bird. Mentioned a dove or hummingbird as alternatives.
We need to make sure we slate all of our test and get together for dailies every Tuesday as well as get together at 11:30 on Thursday and make sure everything is ready to show to the client.
In addition to our meetings each week we need to make sure to drop all of our files of onto the server so that everyone has access to them in case anyone is sick or anything else comes up. This way we can all jump into a project and work together to make everything look spectacular.
We have the D1 footage on the network as well in the elements folder.
Heather-can you grab this and work on your roto. Thanks.
Here is a breakdown of what we will be doing for each shot for next week as well as who will be working on what:
HP_01
Get track information on monitor in case we need to track in new art
put post move into shot (scale up by 11-15%) running frame right to left
with pivot extreme frame right. As the camera moves the birds will begin to take off the monitor, leaving it blank. Client is working on a new look for the graphic on the monitor with less birds and bigger birds that way they can all take off from the screen and stay in the correct depth perspective for the shot.
Bekah will be working on the track and the camera move as well as a possible new test for the bird animation.
Alex and Sateesh are working on their current bird animations for this shot.
HP_02
Less butterflies, but new model is great for our purposes. The client wants to stick with bird and liked our first pass at the bird animation. The birds need to have depth of field. They are closer to camera in this shot. Make sure to be consistent with the color of the birds, ie: no black body! Put in the CMY colors on birds and vary the size. Also make the motion setting higher.
Bekah will be working on a possible new test for this.
Alex and Sateesh are working on their current bird animations for this shot as well.
HP_03
Birds will be farther from camera. Insert the rough roto into comp for now and blur the birds that are closer to camera. Use less birds then the amount currently in the shot. Same with the butterflies, use less in this shot.
Bekah will be working on a possible new test for this.
Alex and Sateesh are working on their current bird animations for this shot as well.
HP_04
Birds fly into printer. Use Sateesh’s test from this week as reference on the motion they use when entering the printer. As the last bird enters the printer the CG printer will be placed in the shot and begin its transition to the final shot. Animatic for this looks good and is going well. We have the new photos of the printer in the correct perspective ready for reference for modeling and texturing. Close ups of the buttons and elements on the printer will be provided shortly.
Bekah will be working on a possible new test for this.
Alex and Sateesh are working on their current bird animations for this shot as well.
Akin is working on the printer model and animation. Sateesh and Alex will be texturing the printer.
HP_05
The transition from the living room environment to the CG printer over a sleek, sexy white bg. The paper has also comes out of the printer with the bird image from the monitor. This needs to happen in 5 seconds because the commercial has to remain a 30 second spot. Client will be providing reference of HP ads so we can get an idea of screen space that is generally used with tier printer ads.
Akin is working on the printer model and animation. Sateesh and Alex will be texturing the printer.
HP_06
This will be the final logo reveal. Client wants to reincorporate the birds with this. Current idea is that the birds fly on screen toward the center and dissolve/morph into the HP logo. Client needs to decide on which HP logo they want us to work with. The animation for this needs to be about 2 seconds to keep within required spot length.
Bekah will be working on a test for this.
