You also might want to look into downloading the free Personal Learning edition courtesy of Alias. It has an annoying watermark i wish they would get rid of.. but it still helps you learn the package. The library (at school) also has several books to help you learn... they also offer, in the video section, some great DVDs by the Gnomon Workshop based in LA that are amazing. Alex Alvarez and his crew are extremely talented and put out some great DVDs! Here are the links to the appropriate sites: for the Maya PLE www.alias.com/eng/products-services/maya/maya_ple/index.shtmlfor Gnomon www.thegnomonworkshop.com/Jarmo... you might want to think about checking out some other VFX boards to see how people are using Maya and incorporating visual effects in to their projects www.highend3d.comwww.cgtalk.comwww.vfxpro.comJust to name a few!
