Lecture 4 - inclass notes. (If this is'nt the right place for this Vince, please move it and let me know where you'd like it.) theres probably lots spelling and sentence errors in these notes - its what i wrote quickly in class, so ... bare with me
Regarding the Matchlighting project: (assignment 2)
take a still frame, and put a CG object in the frame. has to be somewhat complex
Figure out in CG how to recreate the set based on where thecamera is, how to simply put materials and textures on it. simulate specular, highlights and shadows etc.
use render layers in maya. (Specular, Shadows, AoC, Beauty) whatever applies
in order to fool the eye, have an effect behind And infront of the CG object.
(Sun light, Skylight and Bounce lights) Exterior lights - if you have strong sunlit conditions, you always have to deal with the skyball. a very strong blue hue.
If you use a base image off the web, be careful to know what camera and settings was used to take the picture. so take your own picture, and in photoshop, you can see what camera settings were used, those settings you'll have to apply to the Maya camera in order for things to fit together.
For more help with Maya, see the video tutorials in the Out of the night assignment.
thanks Adam Oestergaard
