Hello gang, I thought it might be nice to start a new topic: New Films. This topic will store and give web links to new films that are about to come out. I will give the following: They are abour to release a film that is based on the well-known video game: "Doom" (id software) the official website is: www.doommovie.com/And another one: As you know ( or might not know ;D ), the director Brian Singer ( X-Men 1+2 ) is now in Australia, shooting "Superman Lives" the suppose-to-be fifth Superman Movie. Anyway, Singer posts some video-blogs showing his work on the movie at: www.bluetights.net/Ther is als a blog showing the work on some early visual and special effects work. Doom is suppose to be released on Oct. 21st. I don't know about Superman 5, but it seems that Tom Hanks has some troubles saying goodbye to "Apollo 13". Here is a link: www.imax.com/magnificentdesolation/Also, we all know that Mr. Spielberg is about to produce the upcoming Live action "Transformers" movie. Here is the official site. Nothing much on it since it is still in the pre production stages www.transformerslive.com/Ther is an interview with the man on this website. Enjoy!

Ok. Here is another link. This time, it is for a new animation movie of Wallace & Gromit. The film's title is as follows: "Wallace And Gromit - Were Rabbit" Now I know it is not a film with Vfx, but I heard that for the first time of stop-motion animation history, this film will contain CGI characters that were designed in such a way, that they will look like they were made out of Doh and Laytex. (Bumps of finger prints maybe ?!? ) www.apple.com/trailers/dreamworks/wallace_and_gromit/Best Michael

I am unsure about Narnia, as a child i read all of the books, and loved them, I’ve seen every tv – film – animation take on the story ever made, and none of them has matched my own imagination, maybe this one will be different.

The new War of the Worlds bugs me, Granted I haven't seen it yet, is it out yet? I do plan to see it however. The reason it bugs me is because it is yet another modern take on a classic tail. The book written by HG Wells, took place in London, in the late 1800s, It would have been awesome if Spielberg had, had the vision to really do a war of the worlds, rather than a rip off of Independence Day, which its self was a rip of war of the worlds,

I really liked the movie.. I like how Spielberg told the story from the point of view of the main characters. The special effects were more in the background. He has an interesting take on his re-make, and there is a reasion why he made it again. There is lot's of 9-11 references in it ,other underlying political messages. here is a cool article.. which explains Spielberg's reasons for the remake. rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050707/EDITOR/50707002I suggest watching this in a theatre with great sound(like the metreon), unless you have a really big subwoofer and surround sound. It definitely is an intense experience. Better hurry though, as it came out a few months ago....

Another movies worth checking out is 2046. I have not gone to see it yet but I am sure that it is amazing because it is directed by Wong Kai. www.imdb.com/title/tt0212712/combined"2046 takes place in the late 1960’s, where Chow is staying in the Orient Hotel in Hong Kong struggling to pay his bills as a writer. He moves in next to one of his old flames Lulu (Carina Lau), who was a tenant in room 2046 before mysteriously vanishing. The number triggers reflections on where he and Su Li-zhen used to go for afternoon romps, and serves as artistic inspiration. He creates a story about a place called 2046, where people go to find love and recall old memories. It’s a futuristic world with fast-paced trains, surreal colors, androids, and raw perspective not found regularly in real life. It also resembles an acid-trip dream as enticing as it is frightening." I am going to see this movie on Friday. I have seen "In the Mood for Love" and if you love cinemephotography you will love how Wong Kai Wai directed this film. It is absolutley beautiful!

i agree with brandy about 2046. it was a well done love story. i really enjoyed the way they portrayed love. and the vfx seemed to be on point as well. interesting idea with the train flying in and out of the scene, traveling from fiction to reallity. def worth checking out. its playing at the embarcadero center. although, it might have just went out. see yall in class.

Well isn't that what we are all trying to achieve in doing visual effects ? To make the viewers to think/belive that he is part of what he sees ?
